HVAC is an acronym that exists for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. The term HVAC Equipment depicts the different types of systems, machinery, and technologies that are utilized to regulate the indoor environmental conditions in homes, offices, businesses, transportation vehicles, and other places where the desire for regulating temperature and humidity of the air is of importance. There are four primary types of HVAC systems:

• Split Systems
• Hybrid Split Systems
• Duct-Free Systems
• Packaged Heating and Air Systems

Heating and Cooling Split Systems are the most common types of HVAC systems. The system is split between two main units, one for heating and another for cooling. This type of system is easily recognizable because it contains both indoor and outdoor units. The cooling system is located outside and uses a compressor and heat exchanger to compress a refrigerant that when expanded will generate cool air. The heating system is usually found inside (such as in a basement) and uses natural gas for a heat source to warm the air that is circulated by either a fan through ductwork.

Hybrid Split Systems are very similar to split systems, but they have the ability to switch from gas power to electric power. Although gas is a quicker and more complete source, electricity is more efficient and quieter. They allow for home and business owners to have more decisions on how they want to heat and cool while giving them the ability to mitigate energy costs.
